Landscape Designer Carmel, IN (Hybrid Schedule Available)



Play a key part in helping churches create the right space to foster effective ministry. Applicant must show exceptional design talent and a working knowledge of all project phases. From big picture, vision casting in the conceptual design phase, to the refinement of site improvements during design development phase, to detailing these improvements for construction, to review work during construction. This role handles significant aspects of daily design, and/or technical development of outdoor environment projects. Applicant must be proficient at working within a team environment as you will work with our Senior Landscape Architect and variety of design and construction professionals. Occasional travel may be needed as Aspen Group works on large church projects across the United States including the East, Midwest, South, Southeast, and Southwest.


  • Support land and site design of large-scale church projects.
  • Research governing codes and ordinances pertinent to the project site.
  • Coordinate work with civil engineers, architects, interior designers, and construction managers.
  • Develop planting designs for various geographic regions across the United States.
  • Prepare graphics, plans, and construction documents using AutoCAD, LandFX, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other software.
  • Edit project specifications coordinating them with project plans and details.
  • Complete work to meet design aims and achieve project milestones.

Demonstrate knowledge and support of Aspen’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, the Baseline Process, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.


Relevant Experience: Entry level to five years of experience. Ability in current versions of AutoCAD, LandFX, Revit, Adobe Design Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite. Creative design capabilities and the ability to effectively communicate graphically, hand and computer visuals, and verbally.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

Knowledge Areas: Principles of design and visualization, with an emphasis on innovation. Exhibiting a visionary mindset. Ability to understand and interpret budgetary guidelines and project expenditures is a plus. Experience in commercial projects and/or a working knowledge of church culture leadership, ministry and facilities is also a plus.

Desired Skills: Energetic attitude and ability to work well within a team across multiple offices. Demonstrates communicating with others and technical competence. Capable of conducting independent assignments with minimal supervision. Demonstrates an understanding of construction practices and methodologies. Adept at problem solving. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.


This position reports directly to the Senior Landscape Architect.

  • Satisfactory criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Percentage of travel required: 20% (primarily within driving distance).
